Intro, Theory & Basic League Settings

Hello everyone, welcome to the Bizarro Fantasy Football League, not affiliated with any previous Bizarro Fantasy Football Leagues you might have heard of (and a quick Google search turns up a few). Due to the demand of people wanting to get in but only having 10 spots, we've decided to create this blog so people can follow along with the league. We'll be posting some analysis, matchup summaries, and probably nominating players of the week at each position. Be warned, we are lazy, and will probably give up posting after Week 2.

Before we get into the scoring breakdowns and analysis, a little bit about the theory behind this league. Inspired by the BQBL and the Losers League, we wanted to make a full-blown fantasy football league that celebrates poor performance. It would be simple to just reverse the points of a regular league, but that would lead to people winning by starting nobody at all, which we definitely do not want. We want to reward players who actually get involved in games, but perform poorly. As such, we give positive points for things like Interceptions, Dropped Passes, and Fumbles. We give negative points for Touchdowns and Yards. Later posts will cover the actual breakdown of points.

We'll be following this post with more detailed breakdowns of points for each position and why we chose to go with what we did. If this stuff bores you, you can always skip it! If this stuff bores you, we're surprised you've read this far!

Here is the breakdown of the rosters:
Starters:
1 Quarterback
2 Running Backs
2 Wide Receivers
1 Tight End
1 Flex (RB/WR/TE)
1 Kicker
1 Defense/Special Teams
7 Bench Spots
17 Total Roster Spots

We feel like this is a pretty standard roster, nothing out of the ordinary. Wait, that's only 16 roster spots. Oh yes, we forgot one:

1 Punter

That's right. ESPN lets you have punters. Since punting is inherently bad, punters get points for doing their job, and bonus points for doing their job poorly! Everyone wins! Well, except the teams who employ the highest-scoring punters, they're probably not winning anything.

So there you have it, the basic setup. Up next: Quarterbacks, or why Mark Sanchez was robbed of the MVP last season!
